A job offer

A few weeks ago Garry and Elle were quite impressed when I told them I had a job offer arrive in the mail. Until I confessed that it was only for a day, counting votes in the Council Elections. Tuesday was the day I fronted up. We worked from 11.00 am until 10.00 pm when they asked us to come back the next day. So I worked all day Wednesday as well. Then they asked if we would come back again on Thursday. So I had another day of work.
It was quite fun. Intensive at times but we had lots of "rest" times and waiting around times. I enjoyed it and met some interesting ppl. Most of the ppl working were retirees.
It's quite interesting spending a bit of time with older ppl. After a while wrinkles and grey hair seem quite normal. The talk seems to centre around superanuation, selling the house to move into a unit, travel experiences, the lousy job the government are doing, and kids and grandkids.
I'm getting used to that kind of talk.
It's interesting getting aquainted with a new group of ppl. There are always the yafflers, the whingers, the bossy boots (there were heaps of them), the know it alls, the I'm smarter, more efficient, quicker types, the noisy ones and the quiet ones.
I like to try to sit back and observe and then gravitate towards the less domineering types.
That's the group I seemed to end up with today. We had some interesting discussions.
It was good to mix with some different ppl and do something a bit different.
I actually discovered that I'm not quite as dumb as I thought I was. I did manage to complete my tasks and work out what was going on most of the time, and as far as I know I didn't stuff up anything. So it was a good few days.

I wish I got a job offer!! I want to work next year, or study, or something!

Are you going to Deloraine Debbie for the craft and quilt show?

that should be a nice bit of pocket money for you Debbie. Good on you. I have a friend who supervises uni exams. Must be boring I reckon but the pay is FANTASTIC!

I liked the stories about David. Why didn't you write about them, they were interesting.
